Sales/CareCredit

Our CareCredit platform provides consumer financing for health, wellness, personal and veterinary care. The vast majority of our partners are individual and small groups of independent healthcare providers, which includes networks of healthcare practitioners that provide elective and other procedures that generally are not fully covered by insurance. The remainder are primarily national and regional healthcare providers and health-focused retailers, such as pharmacies. At December 31, 2018, we had a network of CareCredit providers and health-focused retailers that collectively have over 220,000 locations.

Our Sales team within CareCredit is the face of Synchrony in the eyes of our partners. We’re trusted advisors and bring along technologies that drive growth and opportunities across the board for Synchrony and our partners.

We focus on relationships. We work closely with our partners to become trusted advisors as we help them build their businesses.

Our investments in technology across multiple touch points—in-store, online and mobile—allow us to engage consumers when and where they want. Our programs and tools strengthen the relationship between our business partners and their customers, driving growth and opportunity across the board.

“All of us at CareCredit wake up every morning thinking about how to realize our vision of being a more comprehensive healthcare solution in patient financing for each of our customers and partners”

Key initiatives and projects

We’re starting out the year with exciting news. The acquisition of Pets Best is our first move beyond veterinary into the broader area of pet care and wellness. It’s a new way we’re helping people who love their pets by giving them another financial option to consider when planning for care. Our news release and social media presence exceeded our expectations, providing CareCredit and Synchrony an opportunity to expand our diversification strategies for our business.

Expanding our retail footprint

We’re already seeing the impact of our expansion into Walmart and Sam’s Club. Our “share of wallet” is growing. We’re close to another big milestone with our expansion into Walgreens, which launches later this quarter. Cardholders will be able to use their card for pharmacy and health-related purchases. Our Walgreens partnership will bring the total number of pharmacies in the U.S. that accept CareCredit to more than 16,000.

In addition, the Walgreens expansion will increase our total number of acceptance locations to more than 225,000.

The next frontier: health systems

This is one of the biggest things we’ll do this year and maybe even in the years ahead. Our entry into health systems will take time to take hold and develop—it’s an immensely complicated ecosystem—but we’ve already made headway. Our new partnership with Baylor Scott & White–Sunnyvale is being implemented now, and we’re deeply involved in conversations with numerous other potential partners. As part of our strategy, we are also partnering with major financial technology payment systems companies to provide health systems and their patients a seamless, frictionless payment experience. Please read our release on our partnership with Simplee.
